Safeguarding

Safeguarding

We aim for very high standards in safeguarding at Amington Heath Primary School. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding obligation, policies can be viewed in the Policies section of our website. We actively support the Government’s Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism.

Reporting Any Concerns

If you see or hear any information that concerns you regarding safeguarding, please speak to Mrs Davies (Headteacher) who is our Designated Safeguarding Leader (DSL).

Alternatively, you can speak to Mrs Starr (Deputy Headteacher) or Mrs Fennelly (Inclusion Manager) who are our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSLs).

All stakeholders in our school adhere to the ‘Keeping children safe in education guidance

Listen Up, Speak Up

It takes a village to raise a child. And it takes a community to keep children safe.

That’s why we’re encouraging every adult in the UK to take the NSPCC 10-minute digital training* and learn how to listen up and speak up for children.

Listen up, Speak up will show you:

  • some signs a child might be at risk, and steps you can take to help
  • how to approach difficult conversations to help keep children safe
  • who you can contact if you’re ever concerned about a child or their family.

Operation Encompass

Amington Heath Primary School is part of a project that runs jointly between schools and Staffordshire Police. Operation Encompass is the reporting to schools, prior to the start of the next school day, when a child or young person has experienced, any domestic abuse.

Operation Encompass will ensure that a member of the school staff, (Designated Safeguarding Lead) known as a Key Adult, is trained to allow them to liaise with the police and to use the information that has been shared, in confidence, while ensuring that the school is able to make provision for possible difficulties experienced by children, or their families, who have been experienced a domestic abuse incident.
