At Amington Heath Primary School and Nursery, we want children to be curious about the world beyond school and to understand that there are many different pathways, careers and opportunities open to them.
We introduce children to a broad range of jobs, skills and future possibilities through our curriculum, enrichment offer and wider school experiences. Our aim is to raise aspirations, challenge stereotypes and help children recognise the strengths, interests and qualities they are developing now.
Careers education is woven through school life rather than taught as a separate subject.
Children encounter careers and the world of work through:
We encourage children to think about how the knowledge, skills and personal qualities they develop in school connect to future learning, employment and wider life.
Each year, our whole-school Aspirations Week gives children opportunities to meet people from different careers, explore unfamiliar pathways and take part in experiences designed to broaden their horizons.
The week helps children understand that success can look different for different people and that their interests, talents and ambitions can lead in many directions.
Our visitors and activities vary each year so that children continue to encounter new ideas, professions and possibilities as they move through the school.
Take a look at some of the experiences, visitors and activities from Aspirations Week 2026.
We want every child to leave Amington Heath believing that their future is full of possibility.
By giving children access to a wide range of experiences and role models, we aim to build confidence, ambition and an understanding that there is no single route to success.
